Smaller Incisions – Improved Self Esteem

Regardless of age and complexity, the benefits of minimally invasive surgery can be a reality that will last a lifetime.

Under the leadership of Dr. Michael Black, our goal at St. Mary’s is to perform limited incisions in the surgical care of cardiac disease and congenital malformations.  This minimally invasive surgery technique uses very small incisions to perform a variety of cardiovascular procedures. The benefits include shorter hospitalization, a smaller 2-inch incision, less pain, less damage to muscle and tissue and a quicker return to daily activities.  In addition to the physical benefits, the long-term emotional aspects of minimal scarring can be invaluable as a child ages.
